Mrs. Emmie Collins Alexander, 79, of 205 Grace Street, Gaffney, and formerly of Piedmont, widow of Robert Donnald Alexander Sr., died Saturday.
A native of Moore, S.C., she was a daughter of the late O.H. and Minnie Johnson Collins and a former resident of Anderson and Piedmont. A graduate of the Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing's Class of 1922, she was a nurse at Spartanburg General Hospital, Anderson Memorial and St. Francis Community Hospitals. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Piedmont and the Lillian Sloan Sunday School Class.
Surviving are one son, Robert D. Alexander Jr. of Gaffney; three sisters Mrs. Nettie Bailey of Moore, Mrs. Carrie Fowler of Spartanburg and Mrs. Lizzie Bullman of Rock Hill; three brothers, John Collias of Woodruff, L.E. and Paul Collins, both of Spartanburg; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Services were held today at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Piedmont with burial in Garrison Family Cemetery, Grove Station.
Memorials may be made to Connie Maxwell Children's Home, Greenwood. Mackey's Mortuary, Greenville.
