Esther Ann Drake Bonham Campbell was the third of five children born to William and Jane (nee Carr) Drake. Esther and her family moved to Milwaukee from Pennsylvania in 1856. Her parents ran The Drake House in Milwaukee, a local boarding house.
Esther married Robert Bonham on Sept. 10, 1867. Robert died in 1868. There were no children.
Esther married William Gilbert Henderson Campbell on November 8, 1870. They had four children: Flora Campbell Braddock, Grace Campbell Henry, Walter, and Arthur.
Esther's oldest brother, George C. Drake, was the first Wisconsin soldier killed in the Civil War.
