ANDERSON — Cebron Daniel "CD" Chamblee, retired farmer and former legislator, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2006, at home on the farm where he was born November 9, 1928, and where he had lived all his life.

He was the son of the late Ernest Cary Chamblee and Mamie Rogers Chamblee.

CD attended Boys High School in Anderson and Clemson University. He was a member of several agricultural organizations including service as a director of Farm Bureau. In 1966 he was named South Carolina Young Farmer of the Year. He was instrumental in organizing the West Anderson Water Company and served as its first treasurer. He was a Life Member of Divver Masonic Lodge #349 and a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple. He was a member of the South Anderson Lions Club. He was elected to the South Carolina Legislature in 1976, retiring in 1996. During his tenure, he served on the Agriculture Committee, the Military, Medical and Municipal Affairs Committee and the Ways and Means Committee. He was awarded the Order of the Palmetto in 1996 by Governor David Beasley. He served on the 1979 Clemson University Board of Visitors. He served on the Board of Trustees of the Medical University of S.C. 1987-88. He served on the Anderson Vocational Rehabilitation Board 1982-84. The South Carolina Legislature recognized his dedicated service and his support for transportation improvement by naming a section of S.C. Highway 187, West of Anderson in his honor. He was a long time member and deacon of Mountain Creek Baptist Church and a charter member of Providence Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class, the men's Brotherhood and had served as deacon.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marian Bratcher Chamblee; a daughter, Jenny C. Renedo and husband, Mike Renedo, of Columbia; three sons, Cary D. Chamblee and wife, Mary Gail, of Columbia, Tim D. Chamblee and wife, Elizabeth, of Columbia and Mark E. Chamblee and wife, Cindy, of Anderson; a brother, Hugh R. Chamblee of Annandale, Virginia; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Daniel Renedo, Christian, Mollye, Matthew, Lauren, Jan and Wendy Chamblee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest C. Chamblee Jr.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Highway 29 North, conducted by Rev. Michael Kinard, Rev. Michael F. King, and Rev. J.R. McClure. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery. Sullivan-King Mortuary, Downtown Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. The family is at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 108, Anderson, SC 29622.
