Born Jeffery Scott Lewis, he was raised in Arizona where he attended Horizon High School in Scottsdale. He played collegiate football at Northern Arizona University where he made an imprint on their program as one of the all-time leading quarterback in Lumberjacks history. Selected by the Denver Broncos during the 4th round of the 1996 NFL Draft, Lewis served as backup to John Elway. His career was highlighted by his contributions to two consecutive Broncos' Super Bowl championships (XXXII played in 1998 and XXXIII played in 1999). He concluded his career with the Carolina Panthers (1999 to 2000) as a backup for Steve Beuerlein. After retiring as a player, he served as an assistant coach at Louisville prior to returning to Northern Arizona University where he served on their coaching staff. (bio by: C.S.)
