Merle Francis Breakfield, one of three children of Eva Melzena (Murrell) and William Jesse Breakfield, was born on May 11, 1941, in Falcon, Missouri.
He grew up in Carson, Iowa and graduated from Carson-Macedonia High School in 1959. Merle was a carpenter and then a self-employed dump truck operator. He spent the last 14 years working for Cohron Ready-Mix in Carson.
Merle and Jeanine Husz were married on June 4, 1961, at the United Methodist Church in Carson. They made their home in Carson and their marriage was blessed with three daughters, Raneta Jean, Teri Dawn, and Beth Ann.
Merle was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Carson and served on the Carson Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He spent many hours "cruising" around Carson. Merle listened to his favorite team, the Iowa Hawkeyes, on the radio and mostly enjoyed attending his grandkids sporting events and cheering them on...he was their biggest fan. Other interests were playing on Junior's fast pitch softball team, playing the bass guitar in a Country Western band, and he loved to fish. Merle was a great family man, loving husband and dad and a wonderful grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father in law, Marvin and Edna Husz; and brothers-in-law, Tim Husz and Jim Jefferis.
