THE FLOYD COUNTY HESPERIAN, June 11, 1925: "W. D. Sanders, 65, died Tuesday morning at 5 o'clock in a sanitarium at Savannah, Mo., while at a sanitarium in an effort to regain his health.
He is the father of H. S. Sanders, of this city, a wire Tuesday telling the son here of his fathers, demise. The body was shipped from St. Joseph, Mo., Tuesday night, and is expected to reach Floydada tomorrow about noon. Funeral arrangements announced this morning for the funeral
at 3 p. m. tomorrow afternoon at the Methodist Church.
Mrs. W. D. Sanders and all the children are expected to be here for the funeral. Mrs. Sanders and two daughters, Mesdames W. O. Osterdock, of Raton, N. Mex., and Walter Egbert, of Brownwood, will arrive from Raton probably today, in company with Curg Sanders, who is making his home at present at Raton. Orin Sanders, another son, is expected today from Paris. W. D. Sanders has been a resident of Texas for many years. He was a native of Mississippi, moving to Paris as a young man. Nearly two years ago he moved to Floydada and 9 months ago he bought a ranch near Happy, where he had been living until the condition of his health made it necessary for him to go to a sanitarium for treatment. It was not known by his family that his condition was so serious, a telegram as late as Monday advising that he was doing well.
