CONNEAUTVILLE, Pa. — Esther M. Whitney, age 85, of West Springfield, Pa., died Saturday morning, August 8, 2009, at Rolling Fields Nursing Home, Conneautville, Pa. She was born May 31, 1924, in West Springfield, Pa., the daughter of William E. and Iva M. (Lyntz) Wright. A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of Springfield High School, and loved farm life and country living. She and her husband had wintered for many years in Bunkie, La. She was a member of West Springfield United Methodist Church, the Springfield Firemen's Auxiliary and was a former member of the East Conneaut United Methodist Church in Conneaut, Ohio. Mrs. Whitney enjoyed square-dancing for decades and was a member of the "Stars N Thars" Square Dance Club. Survivors include her daughter, Gail Whitney (husband Paul Reszkowski) of Erie, Pa.; two sons, Ray (wife Rebecca) Whitney of Bloomingburg, Ohio and Glen (wife Roxane) Whitney of West Springfield, Pa.; six grandchildren, Nathan Whitney, Steven Whitney, Bryan Whitney, Lynnette Weldon, Alexandria Reszkowski and Jannel Whitney; two step-grandchildren, Joseph Reszkowski and David Reszkowski; and two sisters, Sylvia Crane of Cranesville, Pa. and Virginia Gary of Conneaut, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Harley G. Whitney. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 11th, at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio, with the Rev. Robert Klingler, pastor of West Springfield United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in East Springfield Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, August 10th, at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department or to West Springfield United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
