Audrey Roberts Burgess Booth, 85, of Louisa, died peacefully in Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa on Monday, December 31, 2012. She spent her final days surrounded by her loving family.
Audrey was born on September 23, 1927, at Aflex, to the late George and Cornis Roberts.
Audrey was a graduate of Fort Gay High School. She was an accomplished trombonist who earned first chair in the West Virginia All State Band four consecutive years. She graduated from Morehead State University with a bachelor's degree in education, followed by a master's in adult and continuing education. She taught adult education in Wayne County, W.Va. After retiring from teaching, she was fortunate enough to travel extensively, visiting destinations all over the world. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Louisa. Few are blessed with a life as filled with love and joy as Audrey. She truly loved having fun, and was never happier than when she was surrounded by her family and friends. Her joyful sense of humor and prolific laughter were well known by those close to her. Perhaps her greatest source of joy was caring for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of whom she was fiercely proud. The love of music that was such an important part of her life blossomed in the generations following her, and she took every opportunity to sing and play with her family.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence Quinton Burgess of Louisa, a daughter, Leah Burgess Davis of Lexington, and a brother, Bobbie F. Roberts.
