Birth: Nov. 1, 1905
Death: Jul. 6, 1968

John Indrisano was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on December 1, 1905, the son of Maria Barrasso and Pietro Indrisano, emigrants from Italy. John was a boxer in the welterweight division, fighting well into the 1930s under the name "Johnny Indrisano." In approximately 1933, helped by his lover, Mae West, and others, he entered the film industry and worked as a stunt man, boxing choreographer, and actor. He appeared in Guys and Dolls, Some Like it Hot, and other films. John tragically killed himself on July 6, 1968, on the birthday of his only child, Kathleen.John Indrisano was married to my grandmother, Mary (her maiden name was Vardaro) and they had a daughter, Kathleen Indrisano. I am seeking photographs of my grandmother Mary or my mother as a little girl (I have plenty of my grandfather John and NONE of my grandmother Mary). I am seeking photographs of my grandmother or my mother as a child or young woman; if you have one, please contact me, or scan and post it to this site. Feel free to share memories of my grandfather, and also of my grandmother Mary and their daugher Kathleen here, too.

Enjoyed your acting performances and heard you were a talented boxer as well. Rest in peace sir, from a fellow American of Italian decent.
