Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Youngest person in US history to receive this honor. He entered the Union Army in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. He served as a Musician-Drummer in Company D, 3d Vermont Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for action on June 26-July 1, 1862 at Seven Day Battle and on the Peninsula Campaign, Virginia. His citation reads "Gallantry in Seven Day Battle and Peninsula campaign." (bio by: Don Morfe)
