Ira F. Stonier, 78, of Granville, former owner of Granville Motor Co., died at 1:10 p.m. Monday in St. Margaret's Hospital, where he was admitted after being stricken in his home.
Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Dysart Funeral Chapel, Granville, the Rev. Walter Martin of the United Church of Christ officiated. Burial was in the Wenona Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Brandstatter, Harold Bruch, Albert Cioni, Robert Cofoid, John Martens, Richard Morris, Ron Salsman, and James Whitaker.
Mr. Stonier was born August 21, 1904, in Sloan, Ia., to Ira J. and Minnie Flanagan Stonier. He married Ella Metzger, who died in 1972. He married Esther Fiedler in 1975.
He was former owner and operator of the Granville Motor Co. for 44 years. He was a member of the United Church of Christ, Granville Masonic Lodge, the Peoria Consistory, the Mohammed Shrine in Peoria and the Northern Illinois Valley Shrine Club.
Surviving are his wife; a brother, Charles of Des Moines; his step-mother, Mrs. Maude Stonier of Rochester, Minn.; three half-brothers, Gordon, William and Jay Stonier in California, and a half-sister, Mrs. Charles Ownen of Rochester, Mn.
Memorials may be directed to the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital or the Granville United Church of Christ.
