Boxer Rebellion Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. A veteran of the Spanish-American War and the Philippine Insurrection, he served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps during the Boxer Rebellion, and was part of the China Relief Expedition of 1900 and 1901. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery on July 13, 1900. His citation reads "In the presence of the enemy during the battle near Tientsin, China, 13 July 1900, Adriance distinguished himself by meritorious conduct". His Medal was awarded to him on July 19, 1901. He died in New York City.
