Margaret Jaffray was born in Fintray, Aberdeenshire to James Jaffray and Elizabeth Duncan. She married Alexander Smith Scott in Dyce, Aberdeen on Jan. 14, 1849.
According to records, they had six children:
James Scott, born about 1850
William Scott, born about 1853
Alexander Scott, born Dec. 4, 1855
twins Margaret Smith Scott and Alexandrina Scott, born April 23, 1858; Alexandrina died when she was 13.
Jemima Scott, born about 1867
In 1851, the family lived at 28 Bogriffie in Fintray but by 1861 they had moved to 59 Bogriffie. From 1871 to 1891, they lived in Bilbo Park in Logie Buchan, Aberdeen. Their final home was in Schoolhill in Ellon, Aberdeen.
Margaret survived her husband by about 4 months, dying of cerebral apoplexy.
According to the Aberdeen and North-East Scotland Family History Society, Alexander is buried with his wife and two of his children:
