In 1851, the family lived at 28 Bogriffie in Fintray but by 1861 they had moved to 59 Bogriffie. From 1871 to 1891, they lived in Bilbo Park in Logie Buchan, Aberdeen. Their final home was in Schoolhill in Ellon, Aberdeen.
Margaret survived her husband by about 4 months, dying of cerebral apoplexy.
According to the Aberdeen and North-East Scotland Family History Society, Alexander is buried with his wife and two of his children:
