Lawrence Virgil Foster, age 94, of Jamestown, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Liberty Nursing Home.
Lawrence was born November 21, 1918, in Highland County, the son of the late Charles and Minnie Foster.
He was a retired dairy and grain farmer of over 40 years and was a long standing member of the Jamestown United Methodist Church and the Jamestown Grange. Lawrence enjoyed being with his family and loved his children and grandchildren. His humor and affectionate teasing will be missed by all his family.
Lawrence is survived by his loving children, Russell (JoAnn) Foster of Jamestown, Ronald (Meredith) Foster of Fairborn, Katharine (Wayne) Russell of Yankeetown, FL, Joyce Hagler of Jeffersonville, Jane (Sonny Jr.) Carl of Jamestown, and David Foster of Jamestown; sister, Lois Climer of London; sister-in-law, Audrey Haines of Wilmington; 23 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 65 years, Hazel Foster; great-granddaughter, Amanda Davis; 2 sisters; and 4 brothers.
Family will receive friends from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2012, at Powers Funeral Home, Jamestown. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Jamestown United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Silvercreek Township Cemetery. Grandson, Rev. Jonathan Carl will officiate. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the nurses and aids at Liberty Nursing Home for their care and support.
