Davis G. Garrett
Mr. Davis Garland Garrett, 56, a psychiatrist died of cancer Wednesday, August 14, 1991 at Jackson Hospital.
Graveside funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 18 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Greenville. Boone-Wells Funeral Home in Greenville was in charge of arrangements.
Dr. Garrett, a Greenville native, was a graduate of Greenville High School and the University Of Mississippi School Of Medicine. He was a resident in psychiatry at Eastern State Hospital, in Williamsburg, Virginia and Washington University in St. Louis. He had served on the staff and was owner of various private hospitals, including Valley Psychiatric Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee, St. Albans Psychiatric Hospital in Rockford, Virginia and Gadsden Psychiatric Association in Gadsden, Alabama
He was a member of the American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association and the Virginia and Alabama psychiatric associations.
Dr. Garrett was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Davis Garrett. Mrs. Garrett was the late Gertrude Ware Garrett.
Survivors include his wife, Margo; one daughter, Lea Louise Garrett of Montgomery; three sons, Garland Jerome Garrett of Little Rock, Arkansas, Mark Hunter Garrett of Picayune and Todd William Garrett of Montgomery; nine sisters, Louise Lee Magers, Pauline Newton, Hazel Patterson and Betty Jo Wilson, all of Greenville, Jewel Hess of Hayward, California, Mary D. Nesbit of Brownsville, Texas, Annie G. Riley of Clarksdale, Ruth Williams of Maben and Margie Myers of Laurel; and four grandchildren.
