Roy F. Peterson
Roy F. Peterson of Nokomis, Fla., formerly of Springfield, died Nov. 20 in Florida.
Mr. Peterson was born in River Falls, Wis., the son of Fred E. and Anna Peterson.
He was a district commercial supervisor for Illinois Bell Telephone for 33 years, retiring in 1978. He moved to Florida in 1980, keeping a part-time residence in Springfield until the spring of 1994. He spent 12 years with H.M.G. Engineering Co. retiring in 1992.
Mr. Peterson graduated from the University of Wisconsin in River Falls and received his master's degree from Northwestern University. He was an Army veteran. He was a member and past president of Faith Lutheran Church in Springfield and a member of Faith Lutheran in Sarasota, Fla. He was president of the Boy's Club of Springfield; member of the United Way board; Illinois Bell Pioneer; and a volunteer at Venice Hospital and at the Sarasota Opera.
Survivors: wife, Violet; daughter, Mrs. Richard (Diane) Destrempe of Bedford, N.H.; and three granddaughters.
A memorial service was held at Faith Lutheran Church in Sarasota, Fla. A memorial service was held at English Lutheran Church in Ellsworth, Wis., with interment at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ellsworth.
Farley Funeral Home and Crematory, Venice, Fla., was in charge of arrangements.
