Philadelphia Death Record: "George Mustin in his 65th year died of Paline (???) - Signed: Ay Mustin (presumably Anthony Mustin his son) Buried at Sansom St Baptist." This was located three block west of Independence Square between 8th & 9th Streets.
As the city of Philadelphia grew, there was no room for downtown cemeteries, so the Sansom Street Burial Ground graves were transported in 1855 to Laurel Hill Cemetery. Laurel Hill Cemetery Index lists as "Geo. & wife; Ebenezer; and Alfred, Book 2, Page 797, 1855". Those graves are now in Laurel Hill's Section 6, Lot 97.
See the memorial of Dr Wm Staughton for a history of the Burial Ground and the Church.
George Mustin was born in Dodbrooke, Devon, England. This small market town is today best known for its larger neighboring market town of Knightsbridge.
George Mustin married (Mary) Elizabeth Jillard on Dec 18, 1780 at St. Andrew Parish in Plymouth, Devon, England. After the birth of most of their children they came to America in about 1795-6 perhaps originally to New Jersey and then about 1800 to Philadelphia.
Another child not listed below is Eli Mustin (1794-1880).
