ANDERSON, Jacqueline Burnside 81, went to heaven Dec. 22, 2012, after a severe stroke and care of hospice. Preceded in death by parents, Nell Milam and Walter N. Burnside, Sr. and brother, Walter N. Burnside, Jr. (Boogie). Survivors include her son, Michael M. Anderson (Gabrielle), Tampa; daughter, Mitzi Anderson, Thonotosassa, and precious granddaughter Erin (fiance' Jared DeLong). Jackie grew up in Seminole Heights, and attended Hillsborough High School where she met Arthur Mervin Anderson (Andy). They married and made their first home in Tampa. Jackie became a teacher, then later became Program Services Director for the Suncoast Girl Scout Council. She made many long lasting friends here and treasured them all. In 1960 they moved to Lutz. Mervin, an engineer for the railroad, also tended to the many family orange groves. Jackie was an avid golfer and was a member of Buckhorn, Quail Hollow and Carrollwood Golf Clubs. She played on many courses with her faithful golfing buddies. After golf, she would spend hours in the card rooms playing Bridge. She had card groups including the golf girls, the Girl crew and many others from pick-up games that became permanent groups. She enjoyed travel, visiting Hawaii, Alaska, Italy, and Scotland. In the last couple of years Jackie moved to John Knox Village in Tampa and again made many close friends. We all thought we would have more time with her. She was looking forward to Erin's wedding next year. We will have a get together to say farewell at Blount and Curry Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, from 5-7 pm to honor our wonderful mother. She will be cremated and entered to rest with Mervin at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to LIfepath Hospice, any animal rescue group, or other cause close to your heart. Or just take time to hug and take out your mothers and close friends for a day of remembrance. We never know how short our time may be.
