In 1889 he opened the first bank in Stephenville, Erath Co., TX, named it the First National Bank, and served as it's first executive officer. The bank was built on the west side of the square, a two-story structure of rough native stone walls. The building is still standing (2000), though has not served as a bank since the Great Depression of the 1930s.
