Grand Island Daily Independent Monday, 17 December 1900
The death of D. S. Roush, the well-known farmer is reported this afternoon as having taken place this morning. Some heart trouble complicated with dropsy was the fatal sickness. The funeral will take place from the First M. E. church Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock. Further mention will be made tomorrow.

David S. Roush
Mr. David S. Roush was born at Letart, Ohio, March 10th, 1837, and died at his home northeast of Grand Island, Nebraska, Dec. 17th, 1900, aged 63 years, 9 months and 7 days. He spent the early part of his life in Ohio, and was married to Sarah M. Hayman, who still survives him, in July 1860. He moved his family to Hall county, Nebraska, in the spring of 1883, settled on the farm where he lived until his death. His illness began almost a year ago, but he has been confined to his bed only a short time.

His family consists of five sons and three daughters all of whom reside here except two sons, Minton and Wade and one daughter, Mrs. W. F. Mecham who reside in Wyoming.

He was for about 35 years a member of the Masonic Fraternity and also a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. He was a man of striking integrity and upright character and will be greatly missed for he was held in high esteem by a large circle of friends.

The funeral services will be held at the First M. E. church tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m.
