Obituary povided by Shelly Harris
Ernest, son of J. F. Kegebein and wife died Tueday night, aged about seven years. Our people fully sympathize with hose so suddenly called upon to mourn the taking away of hear bright little boy. May they tirn to one whose care is over us all and said, "suffer the little children to come unto to me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdow of Heaven."
Great uneasiness prevades the town just now over an outbreak of the dreaded diptheria. Three families were last week taken simultaneously - J. F. Kegebein's, Mrs. Damon's and that of J. A. Webster in the family of Mr. Kegebein, their little boy the oldest of the children, a fine little fellow about seven yers old, was the victim, he died early Wednesday morning. There is now sick there, the mother, Mrs. Kegebein and one of the younger children. At. Mrs. Damon's the young child, a girl about eight years old was first taken. She is now getting better and the sister next oldest is also sick. At Mr. Webster's the son William, about thirty years old and Will's youngest daughter wer taken first. The child died Sunday h=night and ther is sick now Will end (sic) his sister Lucy. Strict quarantine measures have been taken and it is hoped that the disease can be stopped from spreading. A notice from the board of health will be seen elsewhere in this paper.
