Services Held For Lawrence (Lyle) Warnke
Funeral services were held for Lawrence (Lyle) Warnke, a former Boyd County resident, on July 27, 1989 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Spokane, Washington with Rev. Peter P. Kerwin officiating.
Lyle, the ninth child of Anton and Mathilda Warnke, was born on a farm southwest of Butte, Nebraska on August 14, 1912. He grew up on the family farm and attended the parochial school.
On March 7, 1943 Lyle and Vivian Wike were united in marriage. Vivian was a former Lynch resident.
Serving his country in W. W. II, he joined the Army Air Force, working as an airplane mechanic. Lyle was also a member of the American Legion.
After being discharged from the service, he was employed by Centennial Mills in Spokane, as manager for 27 years before he retired in 1976.
Returning home from a summer visit in Lynch and Butte, he became ill; consulted his doctor, and entered a hospital in Spokane. A few days later, he passed away on July 23, 1989.
Lyle is survived by his wife Vivian, two sisters, Mary Lueken, Lynch, Nebraska and Johanna Roach, Boelus, Nebraska, and two brothers, Max of Butte, Nebraska and Martin of Kearney, Nebraska, also a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Hattie, Elizabeth, Agnes and Sr. Suzanne and one brother, Anton (Tom).
Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, with Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home directing. Some of the relatives attending the funeral were from the Wike family, (formerly from Lynch) Jack, Betty and Bob, also several neighbors and good friends.
