Effie was 75 when she died Saturday at her residence, 503 Richardson Street, Gadsden.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Etowah County. Effie was affiliated with the Gadsden Baptist Temple.
Family members have commented on that fact that Effie was a wonderful cook.
Her obit lists her survivors as: husband, Napoleon B. Nelson, Jr.; daughter, Mrs. Margaret Hatfield, Gadsden; sons, N. B. Nelson III, Topeka, Kansas; Garry Wayne Nelson, Marietta, Georgia. In addition, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Willie C. Matthews, Gadsden; grandsons, Joel Trevor and Geoffrey William Nelson, Topeka, Kansas, Michael William Nelson, Marietta; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Collier-Butler Chapel with the Rev. Bill Ellen officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers: Gary Bearden, Ben Johnson, Harold Gleen, Tommy King, W. F. Wilder, H. C. Harper. Honorary pall bearers: Drs. T. M. Owens, John Hamilton and Donald Provenzano, Obin Bailey and Fred Canada.
