Obituary of Ray Archibald

George Raymond Archibald, oldest son of Armstrong and Margaret Archibald, was born near Stockport, Iowa, Nov. 30, 1879, and passed to his eternal home from his residence near Birmingham on Sunday morning, April 13, 1824(sic: 1924), aged 44 years, 4 months and 13 days. He was united in marriage with Stella Bowers Workman, October 22, 1903. To this union were born two daughters, Eva Elizabeth, now Mrs. Lowell Storm of Libertyville and Nell Dephene at home. His father, mother and youngest brother, Fred, preceded him in death. He leaves his loving wife, two daughters, a son-in-law, two granddaughters, three brothers, Otto of Hobsen, Montana; Frank of near Stockport and Ross of near Donnellson, besides more distant relatives and countless friends to mourn their loss. In his early youth he was converted and became a member of the Mt. Zion Presbyterian church. Later he transferred his membership to Utica. Ray was a kind and sympathetic husband, a loving and generous father, an energetic and ambitious citizen, and a loyal and faithful citizen, and a loyal and faithful friend. He met with courage and patience the trials and anxieties of his life and maintained his cheerful disposition to the end. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

It may be in the better land,
We'll read the meaning of our tears,
And then ah then, we'll understand."

Funeral services were conducted in the M.E. church at Birmingham, Io.(Ia.), on Thursday, April 17th, by the pastor, Rev. G.H. Smith. Appropriate songs were sumg by the Williams male quartet, and also a solo by the pastor. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. birmingham cemetery.
