Etha Cordelia Brown was born March 20, 1891, in Marshall, Arkansas (Searcy County), daughter of Josephus C. Brown (1856-1898) and Mary Tinsley 'Mollie' Cargill (1855-1933).

On September 15, 1906, in Searcy County, Arkansas, Etha married Joseph Henry Rea, who was born February 29, 1884 in Calf Creek, Arkansas (Searcy County), son of James Rea (1850-1931) and Martha Caroline 'Patsy' Cash (1852-1940).

Joseph and Etha had four children: Eula Esta Rea (1909-1991); Elpha Eura Rea (1914-1997); Erin Robert Van Rea (1916-1991); and James Jewel Rea (c1922- ).

The 1920 Federal Census for Henryetta Ward 2, Oklahoma (Okmulgee County) shows Joseph Henry Rea, a laborer, age 35, born in Arkansas; and his wife, Etha Cordelia, age 27, born in Arkansas. Living in the household were three children: Eula, age 10; Elpha, age 5; and Erin, age 3 years 10 months, all born in Arkansas. Also living in the household was Etha's mother, Mary Tinsley Brown, age 63, born in Arkansas.

The 1930 Federal Census for Muskogee, Oklahoma (Muskogee County) shows Joseph Henry Rea, a packing house laborer, age 44, born in Arkansas; and his wife, Etha, age 38, born in Arkansas. Living in the household were four children: Eula, age 20, born in Arkansas; Elpha, age 16, born in Arkansas; Erin Rea, age 14, born in Arkansas; and James J., age 8, born in Oklahoma.

Joseph died May 30, 1934 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (Oklahoma County) and was buried in Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City, Oklahoma (Oklahoma County). Etha died August 19, 1974 in Oklahoma City and was buried beside her husband.
