Othar R. Smock, 100, of Gibson City, Illinois died at 9:17 p.m. Friday (September 26, 2003) at Heritage Manon Nursing Home, Gibson City.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City. The Rev. Scott Henley will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Drummer Township Cemetery.

Mr. Smock was born August 21, 1903, in Gravelswitch, Kentucky, a son of Thomas and Kathryn Wahls Smock. He married Gladys F. May on April 17, 1926 in Gibson City. She died October 4, 1986.

Surviving are two sons, Junior (Jean) Smock of Russellville, Kentucky, and Charles (Connie) Smock of Hardy, Arkansas; two daughters, Catherine Foster of Danville, and Mary (Elmo) Schmidt of Gibson City; 19 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and one sister Pauline Stone of Urbana.

He was preceded in death by four brothers; one daughter; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Smock was a farmer for Stokley Canning Factory in Gibson City for many years.

Memorial contributions may be made to an organization of the donors choice.
