SALEM— Charles E. Gilbey, 82, of Salem, and formerly of Elkton, died at 2:40 a.m. Saturday at Essex of Salem #1.He was born on October 27, 1925, in Teegarden, Ohio, to the late George and Elizabeth (Dobbs) Gilbey.A lifetime Elkton-area resident, he served in the U. S. Navy during World War Two and he retired in 1990 as an Assembler from Hunt Valve Co. in Salem.He is survived by three children, Mrs. Raymond (Barbara) Sunderman of Berlin Center, Mrs. Richard (Susan) Carver of Fla., and George Gilbey of Austintown; five step-children, Carolyn McDade, Betty Landis, Linda Kobes, Brenda Morris and Joshua Glober; and many grandchildren and step-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl (Knight) Gilbey, whom he married on July 24, 1985, and died on February 19, 2002; a sister, Maude Singer; and three brothers, Clifford, Andrew and Lorin Gilbey.Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Arbaugh Pearce Greenisen Funeral Home with Retired Lt. Col. Ross Jackson, Chap., officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors being accorded by the Salem Amvets Post 45 and the Salem VFW Post 892 in Green Haven Memorial Park in Canfield.A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. 5/25/08
