Winifred L."Win" Mounts, 84, of Anderson, died Aug. 5, 2006, at Community Hospital Anderson, after a brief illness.
She was born March 27, 1922, in London, England, the daughter of George A. and Florence E. (Chell) Deavin. She had resided in the Anderson/Alexandria area since 1948.
Winnie was a homemaker. She served in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force in England during World War II, meeting her husband Arthur during that time. She adjusted from living in the big city of London to rural Indiana. She was a member of the Transatlantic Brides Club and traveled back to London to visit with relatives often. "Win" loved musicals and Robert Redford movies.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Arthur Mounts of Anderson; son, Keith (Kerry) Mounts of Germantown, Md.; brothers, Leonard Deavin of Rochester, England, and Kenneth Deavin of London, England; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, George A. Deavin, who died in 1964; and her mother, Florence E. (Chell) Deavin, in 1997.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria. Interment will take place at Park View Cemetery, Alexandria.
Friends may call from noon until 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made, through the funeral home, to the National Kidney Foundation.
