KOLAR - John L. "Chuch," 91, West End, went to his heavenly home on March 2, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center. Born March 24, 1915, in Johnstown, son of Louis and Barbara (Boldin) Kolar. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 59 years, the former Alice G. Holtzman; sister, Ann, and her husband, Steve Chontas; brother, Frank Kolar; brother-in-law, Clarence Farkas; and nephew, Robert Kolar. Survived by daughter Nadine, wife of James Kucharyk, Johnstown; granddaughters, Robbie Lynn, wife of Dr. William Peters, Clark Summit; and Renee Marie, wife of Christopher Gilbert, Mayfield; also survived by great-grandchildren, Stephen Peters and Hadley Grace Gilbert. A brother of Catherine Farkas, Joseph Kolar, and wife, Amelia, all of Johnstown; Mildred, wife of John Walters, Lancaster; and Josephine, wife of Robert Calik, Monroeville; sister-in-law, Bertha Kolar, Johnstown; and brother-in-law, Donald Holtzman, who was his friend and caregiver. Also many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. John retired after 44 years with Bethlehem Mines. He was a member of the Mine Rescue Squad for 27 years. He was sent to mine caverns in three different states. He was also a longtime employee of Alex Froehlich Packing Co. He was an amateur boxer and played second base in a semipro baseball league. An avid duck pin bowler and recipient of awards for his dancing. A lifelong member of the Rodoljub Singing Society. Member of CFU Lodge 5, Retired Men's Club and St. Rochus Catholic Church, where funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Charles Amershek. Committal, Grandview Cemetery. Friends received from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street, where vigil for the deceased will be held Monday afternoon, and the Rodoljub Singing Society will have their service at 7 p.m. Chuch will be greatly missed by all who know and love him. He will be remembered as a kind and generous man. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
