Florine was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on May 10, 1921, to Leo A. O'Hara and Bessie "Elizabeth" (Welch) OHara. Florine lived primarily in Des Moines and West Des Moines, Iowa.
Florine enjoyed dancing at the Val Air Ballroom, playing on many bridge leagues, and watching the Chicago Cubs.
Florine is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (David) Grosland of Des Moines, Iowa, and Mary (Lyle) Hanrahan of Rochester, Minnesota, and two sons, James (Shelley) Horton of Des Moines, Iowa, and Michael (Sue) Horton of Clive, Iowa, as well as thirteen grandchildren, three great-granddaughters, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters, Mary Sheil Smith, Clive, Iowa, and Alice Carr, Johnston, Iowa.
