Diana Berndt
Diana Berndt, 56, of Boise, passed away peacefully, in her own home, Wednesday, April 17, 2002, from a short, but terminal illness. A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, April 21, at 2 p.m. at King of Glory Lutheran church, to be followed by a potluck reception. Arrangements are by Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel, Meridian.
Diana was special from the beginning, born to a large loving family on Christmas Eve, 1945 in Caldwell. She was the youngest child of Cornelius and Sarah Dick. She grew up in the area and attended Middleton High School.
Traveling to California for college, she met her husband, Professor William J. Berndt. Together they moved to northern Idaho and raised their family. Diana was a graduate of Lewis Clark State College, earning a B.S. in nursing and later, from the University of Idaho, a masters degree in counseling. Possessing a gift for healing, Diana brought her education and talents together to help the physical and emotional suffering of others.
Foremost in Diana's life was her endless effort to enhance and strengthen relations within her family and circle of friends. She was a tireless host and always made occasions special. Diana deeply loved God, and as a member of her church, took part in a mission to Germany. Singing and playing her piano were some of her favorite activities.
Her family would like to say thank you to all of those who supported and aided our mother through her illness.
She is survived by sons, William A. Berndt of Portland, OR, Andrew Berndt of Portland, OR; her grandchild, Laken Berndt; her brother, Raymond Dick of Hawkins, TX; and sister, Dorthy Wiens of Caldwell.
In death, she now joins her mother and father, Sarah and Cornelius Dick, and her brothers, Johnny and Herbert Dick.
