He was baptized on June 17,1619.

His estate was inventoried on Jan 12,1712/3.

NOTE: Francis "The Elder" was the eldest of two sons named Francis by their father Edmund. Francis "The Younger" was born in 1635. Some sources discount the story of two brothers each named Francis Littlefield. However, it was sometimes the custom in the past to insure the perpetuation of the first name in a family by giving two children the same name, In this family's case, the two Francises were born 16 years apart, and, in some sources, it is suggested that "Francis Sr" and his siblings Anne, Edmund, and Anthony were children of Edmund's by an unknown first wife whom Edmund married at Titchfield on Oct 14,1614. And further, the last six children of Edmund's, including "Francis Jr" and all six of whom came over to the colonies at a later time with their mother, were by Edmund's second wife, Annis/Agnes (Austin) Littlefield. This is proposed by some because Annis was 38 when she came over on the "Bevis" in 1638, suggesting a birth year of 1599/1600, possibly too young to have given birth to the first child of Edmund in 1615/6.

He married, first, about 1645/6, Jane Hill, possibly a daughter of Ralph Hill of Woburn,MA. Jane died on Dec 20,1646 at Woburn,MA, six days after the birth of her only daughter.

He married, second, about 1648/9, Rebecca Rust. She was living when he deeded his homestead to his son Dependence, except what he already given to sons James and Daniel.

He married, third, after 1683 but before 1689, Mary (Wade) Symonds. She was born in Charlestown or Ipswich,MA abd baptized at Charlestown on Dec 20,1633, a daughter of Jonathan Wade and Susanna ____ Wade. She was a widow of William Symonds, who had died at Ipswich,MA on May 26,1679.

Children(by first marriage): Mary Littlefield Kittredge French.

Children(by second marriage): Sarah Littlefield Sayer, Hannah Littlefield, Deliverance Littlefield Tilton, James Littlefield, Isaac Littlefield, Abigail Littlefield Eldredge, Daniel Littlefield, Dorcas Littlefield, Phoebe Littlefield Heard, Dependence Littlefield, and Rachel Littlefield Frost.

He moved around before settling in Wells, where he was granted 50 acres in 1643, but he was also taxed in Woburn,MA in 1646 and Dover,NH in 1648.

While still living at Wells he bought a house in Charlestown MA in 1653. He was a Representative from York and Wells through 1660's. He served on Grand Jury and was county treasurer during same period. He was an innholder at Ipswich,MA in May 1670.
