Father Thomas J. Kisting
Father Kisting was presently serving with the ministry team of Lake Country Parishes in Cass County, Minn. He was born on May 22, 1947, in Dubuque, son of Herbert and Elaine (Trebon) Kisting. He graduated from St. Columbkille's School, Dubuque, followed by Campion Jesuit High School, Prairie du Chien, Wis., in 1965. He then graduated from Loras College, Dubuque, in 1969, and went on to study for the priesthood at St. Meinrad (Ind.) Theological Seminary. He was ordained to the priesthood on March 31, 1973, at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church, Dubuque, by Bishop Francis Dunn. He went on to serve in parishes in Waterloo, Cedar Rapids and Marion, Iowa. In 1977, he transferred to the Diocese of Duluth, Minn., serving at parishes in Hibbing and Deer River, Minn. He also had served for many years as the priest for both St. Edward Parish in Longville, Minn., and St. Paul Parish in Remer, Minn., before moving to Pine River.
He is survived by a brother, Mark (Kathy) Kisting, of Dubuque; two nieces, Lisa (David) Richards, of Chicago, and Laura (Bryan) Hoffmann, of Dubuque; and his most beloved Minnesota family, Gary and Joan Daigle and Sam, Ben and Kate, of Winsted, Minn. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Kisting, on Feb. 23, 2003; his mother, Elaine Kisting, on April 23, 2003; and a sister, Ellen Elaine, on Jan. 29, 1952.
