Mrs. Mildred Burks Comer, 74, passed away peacefully, Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at Sentara Careplex, while surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Big Island, Va., she was the daughter of the late Owen H. and Virginia Mayo Burks. She was preceded in death by a sister, Glory Jean Burks; and brother, Jessie Dean Burks.
She is retired from Maida Development Company in Phoebus, Va., after 31 years of service.
Surviving members of her family includes her loving husband of 55 years, Robert L. Comer; two daughters, Shelby C. Burford and husband, Edward, of Amherst, Va., and Cynthia D. Perdue and husband, Gene, of Williamsburg; three sons, Robert Dewayne Comer and wife, Maryann, of Hampton, Mickey Darrell Comer and wife, Brenda K., of Hampton, and Michael Douglas Comer of Hampton; one sister, Virginia B. Wilson of Big Island, Va.; two brothers, Owen H. Burks of Big Island, Va., and Russell Wayne Burks of Frankford, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Patricia, Patrick, Cliff, Kathleen, David, Alicia, Robert and Caitlin; and 12 great-grandchildren.
