Mrs Swafford was born December 28, 1852 in White County, living there until
her marriage, in early girlhood, to Ruff Swafford, a lawyer of Pikeville,
Bledsoe County. After not many years of married life, her husband died.
Her parents moved from White county to Crossville, and she moved to her
parents home shortly after her husband's death. When her sister-in-law died
(wife of D L Snodgrass) leaving 5 small children, Mrs Swafford went to the
Snodgrass home and mothered the children. After the death of her father
about 35 years ago, she lived for several years with her mother, who died
about 25 years ago.
Last Christmas she came to Crossville for her last trip, seeing her brother
and her sister.
