3rd Battalion, I Company,
517th Parachute Infantry Regiment

1st Lt. Floyd A. Stott was his Commanding Officer who KIA at the Battle of Manhay on December 27, 1944.

KIA at Col de Braus a high mountain pass in the Alps.

Awards: Purple Heart.

I Company members state KIA date is September 7, 1944.
Was listed as MIA on September 7, 1944.
Both the War Department and Headstone Application have date of death as September 18, 1944.

Robert was repatriated in March 1950

Prior to repatriation he was interred at the Draguignan U.S. Temporary Military Cemetery at Saint Raphael, France. On September 21, 1944 at Row 5, Plot F, Grave 770.
