Joan Chase Ritter 79 of Rigby went to join her husband after a courageous battle with cancer took her on December 17, 2012.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Joan was born in Rigby, Idaho, on August 10, 1933 to John Edwin and Phoebe Chase. She grew up in Clark area, attended school at Clark and graduated from Rigby High School. She married Jack Ritter on November 2, 1951. She worked at the Sugar Factory and for the State of Idaho, as well. She and her husband also ran the family farm.

She was a member of the LDS Church; she loved her association with her friends in the ward. She loved to be outside on the farm. She loved gardening, golfing and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters Pam Ritter of Twin Falls, Nancy (Terry) Koster of Ucon and two sons Larry (Diana) Ritter of Ririe and Randy (Michelle) Ritter of Idaho Falls, 12 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 20, 2012, at the Ririe LDS Stake Center, 14061 N. 130 E. with Bishop Jeff Sutton, conducting. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe Shelton Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
