Beatrice Waldon, 76, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City, Texas. She was born August 16, 1931, in Call, Texas to Rufus Samuel and Lucinda McCaine Samuel. Beatrice was a retired chef for a private food service. She loved cooking and fishing.
Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Waldon, grandson Kevin Gillins, nephew Joe Holbert, sisters Carrie McMahon, Minnie Adams, Hazel Spikes and Laura Samuels; brothers Rufus Samuel, Jr., Carl C. Samuel and Grady Samuel; son-in-law Kenneth Walton.
She is survived by her only child Minnie A. Walton; her sister Masaline Nash; grandchildren Doris McCoy (Darrell), Beatrice Maxie (Charles Hill), Preston Gillins and Cindy Gillins; great-grandchildren Brittany McCoy, Destiny McCoy, Danielle Maxey, Karen Maxey, Donald Maxey, Chasity Hill, Tommy Hill, Jr., Monae Hill, Lyric Hunter, Keirra Gillins, Crissy Loud, Fred Allen, Katrena Jones and Lance Gillins; great-great-grandchildren Shawn Ball, Jr., Ricky White III, Daviyon Merchant, Daysia Maxey, Christopher Frenchwood and Christian Frenchwood; devoted special niece Doris Jean Holbert and devoted great-niece Patsy Young; her special friends who she loved and who loved her Barbra and Rick Popple.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 9, 2008, from 9-11 a.m., at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, Texas. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park, Hitchcock, Texas.
