Colonel Daniel Cornman, U.S.A. retired, of Washington, is visiting his son, Daniel R. Cornman, at Carlisle.

Colonel Cornman was in command of a brigade in the Vera Cruz expedition and rendered distinguished service at Santiago. Later, he served three times in the Philippine Islands during native insurrections in the possessions. Accompanying Colonel Cornman are his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ephraim Cornman of Washington, and formerly of Carlisle. The party motored from the Capital to Carlisle.

EPHRAIM CORNMAN DIES; LONG IN FEDERAL SERVICE

Retired as Assistant Editor of Agriculture Department in 1925 - Funeral Tonight.

Ephraim Cornman, 74 years old, former assistant editor of publications of the Department of Agriculture and a veteran in the United State Government service, died of a heart attack at his resident, 1526 P street (sic), yesterday.

Born in Carlisle, Pa., Mr. Cornman spent his early youth there, where he learned the printing trade in the office of his father. Later he went to Boise, Idaho, where he became editor and manager of a daily paper during the pioneer days.

Coming to this city in December, 1883, he entered the Government Printing Office as a compositor and served later as a proofreader and then assistant chief of the proof division. He resigned in 1901 to become assistant editor of the Department of Agriculture, in which capacity her served until the time of his retirement in 1925.

Mr. Cornman was a member of the B.B. French Lodge of Masons, the Columbia Chapter, Royal Arch Masons, and the Washington Commandery, Knights Templar. He was a member of the Grace Reformed Church, serving as a deacon and elder there for many years.

He is survived by his widow, who was Miss Catherine MacMillan of Carlisle, Pa. Funeral service will be conducted in the Grace Reformed Church tonight at 7:30 o'clock. Interment will be at Carlisle, PA.
