Belle Purvis Gaskill of Clarence, a retired teacher's aide in the Williamsville Central School District, died Monday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a brief illness.
She was born in NC, the middle daughter of Soverign Paschall Purvis and Belle Hicks Purvis. She earned a bachelor's degree in home economics from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She met and married Glenn Turner Gaskill of Buffalo while he was stationed in Charlotte, N.C. She moved to Buffalo with him after he was discharged from military service in 1946. Mrs. Gaskill was a member of Athor Temple 19, Daughters of the Nile. She also was a member of Chapter E, P.E.O. Sisterhood. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters; a son; her two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Finlator of Raleigh and Martha Dell Hudson of Salisbury; and five grandchildren. Services were at Beach-Tuyn Funeral Home, Williamsville. Burial was in Forest Lawn.
