Arvin Franklin Pennington, 77, of Coal City, went to be with Jesus on Monday, November 5, 2012 in his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on December 12, 1934, in Casey County, Kentucky, son of the late Jesse Cole Pennington and Flora (Allen) Pennington.
He was united in marriage to Nora Angela (Redmond) Pennington on March 10, 1956 in Lizton, Indiana. Of this unity came a family of five children.
Frank was a member of Beech United Methodist Church and served in many capacities and gave much of himself to the church over the years of his membership.
He helped to found the Coal City Volunteer Fire Department in the early 1970s and served as one of the first fire chiefs.
Frank was known to have quite a sense of humor and to be quick witted.
Frank enjoyed watching hummingbirds, never letting their sugar water run dry, as well as home cooked meals from his wife. He also thoroughly enjoyed White Castle, treating his family to cases of them over the years, as well as Long John Silvers. He also very much enjoyed burnt peanut butter cookies.
Frank was a very determined man and could accomplish anything he set his mind to do. He had in the past served in the United States Army. He spent much of his time outdoors with his cattle and farm ground, as well as alongside his wife, Angela. Adoring animals and working with his hands, Frank lived a full life tending farm and had in the past had a construction company.
