Dr. Chauncey Baird, 73, who retired in 1962 as San Bernardino County pathologist, a position he held 15 years, died yesterday in a San Bernardino hospital. Dr. Baird, a resident of California since 1931, was born in Utah and graduated from the University of Utah in 1922 where he was a pre-med student, graduating in 1926 from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He was past Utah state president of the Lions Club, a member of the San Bernardino County Medical Society and a veteran of World War I. Dr. Baird is survived by his widow, LaPriel S., a son, Chauncey Jr. of Fort MacArthur, San Pedro, a daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Wheatley of Honolulu, Hawaii, six brothers, Hyram of Gardena, Reese and Wilfred, both of Salt Lake City, Utah, Asa of Idaho, Edwin of Ogden, Utah, Abner of Utah and five grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grove Colonial Mortuary Chapel with burial at Montecito Memorial Park. Published in the SAN BERNARDINO SUN on February 24, 1963.

He married Lapriel(Lapreel/Lapreele) Smith on June 28, 1921 in Logan, Utah and died in San Bernardino on February 23, 1963. One listing gave a different wife, Afton Louisa Free who had been married to a Clarence Baird of Utah.
