Abigail Stanley was born March 20 1738 or 1739 in Topsfield, MA, the daughter of Capt. Jonathan and Abigail (Gould) Stanley. Mrs. Abigail Stanley was a sister of the wives of Lt. Nathaniel and Joseph Page of Rindge, NH. Capt. Stanley was in Rindge as early as 1752 and in 1754 moved with his family there. Miss Abigail Stanley was married, December 22, 1763, Enoch Hale the son of Moses and Elizabeth (Wheeler) Hale of Rindge. Abigail and Enoch resided in Rindge from the time of their marriage until 1784 with the exception of 1768 and 1769 when they lived in Jaffrey, NH. Abigail and Enoch had eight children all born in Rindge except the third and fourth who were born in Jaffrey. The Hale family resided in Rindge through the Revolution where Enoch was very active in military, town and state affairs. After the war the Hales moved to Walpole, NH and then subsequently to Grafton, VT where they resided for the rest of their lives. Abigail died December 20, 1810, aged 72 years.
