GEORGE HAMILTON-GORDON 4th Earl of Aberdeen Kt KC b Edinburgh 28 Jan 1784 sent as special diplomatic envoy to Vienna 1813, created a Peer of the United Kingdom 1814, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs 1828 to 1830, Secretary for the Colonies 1834-45, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs 1841-1846, Prime Minister 1852 to 1855, died Argyll House, London 14 Dec 1860 & was buried at Stanmore, Middlesex where in the Church a marble recumbent figure by Behm has been placed to his memory by his grandson John Campbell 7th earl of Aberdeen.
