Lester G. Shifflett died at the Atchison Hospital. He was operator of the City Auto Salvage Company on Route 1 of Atchison. Mr. Shifflett was born February 16, 1917, a son of Pete and Nellie Shifflett and has been a resident of Atchison most of his life. He had been engaged in the auto salvage business since he was a young man. His father formerly was engaged in this same type of business. Mr. Shifflett served in the Army Air Corps five years and was overseas four years during World War II. He was a member of the Reorganized Church of the Latter Day Saints. He and the former Blanche Grippin were married February 16, 1945, in Kansas City, Mo., and made their home in Atchison. Surviving are Mrs. Shifflett of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Etta Knowles, a stepson, Oliver Wendell (Bud) Holmes; two sisters, Mrs. Jane Potter, Warrensburg, Mo., and Mrs. Roserva Pollack, Prairie Village, and six grandchildren. A brother, Roy Lee Shifflett preceded him in death. The family prefers that memorials may be contributions to the American Lung Association of Kansas and may be left at the Mortuary.
