2 additional children: Marion Frease Leydig (1888-1970) and Leah Rose (Leydig) Spicer (1894-1975)

Isaiah Daniel Leydig died Dec. 21, 1944, at Clewiston, Fla. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert, in Oct. 1906, and his wife, Anna B., on Mar. 20, 1944. Mr. Leydig was born near Glencoe, Pa., Dec. 31, 1858, the son of Dennis and Leah Troutman Leydig. He was united in marriage to Anna B. Coleman, Apr. 5, 1887, at Somerset, Pa. He was in the general merchandising business in Salisbury with George K. Walker from 1887 to 1898, when he moved to Glencoe and opened a general merchandise store there which he operated until 1918. After retiring from business Mr. and Mrs. Leydig lived in a bungalow just out of Glencoe until the fall of 1928 when they moved to Clewiston, Fla., to reside with their daughters, Miss Marion F. Leydig and Mrs. Leah R. Spicer, and two granddaughters, Betty Spicer Bell and Roberta Spicer. A daughter, Elizabeth,
wife of Frederick W. DeLozier, and grandchildren, Marion and William DeLozier, reside in South Connellsville. Simon R. Leydig of cumberland, Md., is the only brother living of a family of eight children. Mr. Leydig was a charter member of the Masonic Lodge of Meyersdale. He was buried at West Palm Beach, Fla., Dec. 23. Meyersdale Republican, December 28, 1944

Relatives and friends of the Leydig family were very much saddened at the Christmas season when they learned of the death of I. D. Leydig at his home in Clewiston, Florida, Dec. 1st. Mr. Leydig had been in failing health for some time, due to advanced years and during the last few months had been confined to his bed most of the time, he seemed very lonely after the death of his wife and companion, Mrs. Anna B. Leydig, who passed away last March near the Easter holiday. Mr. Leydig was born in Northampton Township and resided here many years. He was always a willing worker in the community, taking a leading part in all local activities. He was a church and Sunday school teacher and was superintendent and teacher in the Reformed Sunday School, for many years, and was greatly missed when he went to Florida to live. Our loss was Florida's gain, however, for he continued his church work in Clewiston, taking an active part until his health would not permit him to attend. Truly it can be said: "He has fought a good fight, he has finished the course, he has kept the faith; henceforth, there is laid up for him a crown of righteousness." The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved family. Mr. Leydig also was very humorous, and loved to tell his stories; even during his illness he could still smile and tell a story if he thought it would lighten another heart or make another smile.
