Veronica Ann 'Bonnie' Loughran was the eighth child of nine, all daughters, born to Patrick Francis and Rose Ann (Mallon) Larkin of New York City. She lived in New York City until her marriage. Bonnie was married in 1943 at Saint John's Catholic Church to Joseph Patrick Loughran, son of Joseph Dominic and Nora Ann (Tobin) Loughran, all of New York City. Bonnie and Joe had eight children, four daughters (Valerie, Bonnie, Noreen, Roseanne) and four sons (Joseph, Thomas, Dennis, Christopher). Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and her eight sisters. She is survived by her eight children, seventeen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and extended family members.
Bonnie's husband 'Joe' was in the military (Retired Colonel, US Army). They enjoyed the military life which brought with it many moves, from New York to New Orleans-Louisiana, Hampton-Virginia (4 tours) & Norfolk-Virginia, Japan, San Diego-California, Fort Leavenworth-Kansas, Heidelberg-Germany, Naples-Italy, Ft Devens-Massachusetts; with Joe doing several tours away from the family.
Bonnie took all the transfers in stride. After returning to Hampton in 1961 on the third tour there, she became a Civil Service employee at Langley Air Force Base. A few more transfers, and Bonnie and Joe were able to enjoy retirement for many years in Hampton--the place that the family had for many years called 'home'. Most recently the couple moved in early 2012 to Round Hill, Virginia. Bonnie had always remained fond of her New York City origins and kept in touch with her sisters until she was the last surviving of them.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Purcellville, Virginia on December 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.
Interment at Arlington National Cemetery on February 15, 2013.
