A. Z. Carlton, Ex-Supervisor,
Dies at Home
New Lisbon --- Former Suerpervisor Andrew Ziba Carleton, 81, died at his home in New Lisbon yesterday morning after five years of ill health.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Friday in the Houk Funeral Home, Edmeston, with the Rev. Charles Dempsey of Morris and the Rev. Samuel Little of Endwell officiaiting. Burial will be in Edmeston Union Cemetery.
Mr. Carleton was born in New Lisbon Aug. 13, 1869, the son of Ziba and Susan (Barton) Carleton. He was twice married. His first wife was Eva Burton, who died in 1894. In 1896 he married Ethel Thurston of Morris, who survives.
Also surviving are four daughter, Mrs. Charles Ward, Garrattsville; Mrs. Floyd Rose, Edmeston; Mrs. Howard Wood, Hurlyville; Miss Florence Carleton, Morris; ten grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles, of Orkney, Saskatchewan, Canada; David, of Edmeston; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Record, Precott, Wash; Mrs. Bertha Demming, New Lisbon.
A farmer during his active life, he was a member of Dairymen's League, Louisville Grange at Morris, Farm Bureau, the Masonic Lodge and Morris Methodist church. He served the Town of Morris as supervisor for many years, and was also Justice of the Peace of that town.
