Both were buried in Sacramento Methodist Cemetery, Sacramento, McLean County, Kentucky.

Gloria "Dody" Garst 78, of 862 Kentucky 254 West; Sacramento, Kentucky. Died Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at her home in Sacramento. Gloria Belle Samples was born June 30, 1926 in Owensboro to the late Red and Mary Samples, was later married to Guy Miller Garst on June 27, 1947, and was better known as "Dody" by her family and friends. Mrs. Garst was a homemaker, had retired as an LPN from the Regional Medical Hospital in Madisonville and had earlier worked as a school teacher at the Sacramento School. She was a member of the Sacramento United Methodist Church where she was also active in the UMW. Gloria also enjoyed Atlanta Braves Baseball, reading, and spending time with both her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her husband of 54 years, Guy Miller Garst died June 22, 2001. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Prentice Samples and a sister, Rachel Dyer.

Survivors include five daughters and their husbands, Mary Ann & Jerry Lee; Evie & David Huff; Kathleen & Dennis Gish all of Sacramento; Debby & Hugh Wilhite of Rumsey; and Della & Russ Carter of Bowling Green. Eleven grandchildren, Nancy Nelson, Jeremy Lee, Amy Bell, Tony Logsdon, Bryan Huff, Gloria Huff, David Michael Huff, Rachel Gish, Nathan Gish, Kelsey Carter, and Jake Carter. Four step grandchildren, Doug Wilhite, Mike Wilhite, David Wilhite, and Laura Doyle. Three great grandchildren, Trey Bell, Laila Bell, and Lee Walton Nelson. Two step great grandchildren; Hannah Wilhite and Kaleigh Wilhite. A sister, Doris LaMoign Brown of Norfolk, Virginia. Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Sacramento Methodist Cemetery. Friends may visit with the Garst Family from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday and from 9:00 A.M. until time of services Friday at Musters in Calhoun.

The Garst Family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Sacramento United Methodist Church, Building Fund; C/O Kathy Gish; Sacramento Deposit Bank; P.O. Box 228; Sacramento, Kentucky 42372. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Calhoun.
