Herbert Dodge,83, of Oskaloosa died May 23, 1991, at Veterans Hospital in Knoxville. Services were held 10:30 a.m. at Geyer-Nordstron Funeral Chapel, Al Hunt officiating. Burial with military rites was held in Oak View Cemetery.
He was born April 13, 1908, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Levi and Annie Snodgrass Dodge. He was a farmer and ran a shoe shop in Albia for several years. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Air Force and was a member of the American Legion, lifetime member of the DAV and moved to Oskaloosa six years ago. He married Lovella McVey,January 9, 1975 in Ottumwa.
He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Veta Spear of Oskaloosa, Beulah McElroy of Ottumwa, Clella Reynolds of Ottumwa, and Jennie Burwalds of Maple Lake, Minnesota; a son Carroll of Ottumwa; seven step-sons; one step-daughter; and two brothers, Russell and Bill of Kansas City, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by one son, Harold Dodge, and three sisters.
